Chapter 220

“I queued for ages to get those dishes! Why should I let her have it?” Celeste was about to march toward her as she finished her sentence.

“Enough. Qull the childish act.” Mikayla stopped her.

“I don’t see how it’s childish! Why couldn’t she get it herself if she wanted it? It’s unfair for her to enjoy the

fruits of my labor!”

Mikayla was amused by Celeste’s clever remark.

It described Kylie a little too well, given how easily she took over Mikayla’s position as Jerome’s wife in

her previous life without even having to confront her.

Kylie had the upper hand, thanks to how much Jerome cared for her.

“Ms. Reign, do you like those? I can get them for you!” Connor volunteered.

Celeste had no choice but to give up on the idea of snatching food away from Kylie after Connor

volunteered.

“Thanks,” she said.

“No worries. It’s not a big deal, after all,” Connor replied.

After Connor took off, Celeste began, “Mikayla, I finally understand why you resented Kylie so much. She’s

a menace.”

“This is your first time meeting her, isn’t it? Do you hate her already?” Mikayla chuckled.

“She’s a vixen. I’m appalled by how she manages to make men feel like they’ve wronged her and let her off the hook when she’s clearly the one’s at fault.”

Mikayla empathized with her.

Endurance was Kylie’s forte, and Kylie was so well versed at it that everyone thought

and forgiving.

was sensible

“You’re quite remarkable today, aren’t you? You were unfazed when Kylie came looking for Jerome, and you were able to stop me from causing a scene,” Celeste teased. “In the past, you’d literally flip the table over if you saw them eating at the same table.”

Mikayla thought she’d behave way worse than that. She would’ve kicked Kylie out the moment she showed up.

“Let’s not talk about her. She can do whatever she wants, and I won’t even be bothered. Did Dr. Chance explain why he didn’t greet you when he got back yesterday?”

Celeste shook her head. “Given how busy he is, he won’t remember trivial things like this. It’s probably like what I said, he’d have troubled everyone if he stopped to greet me.”

“Celeste, you’re smart. Why can’t you tell that there’s something wrong with your communication with

him?”

“Is there something wrong? Celeste flashed a satisfied smile. “I know we’re not as cuddly as usual couples are, but that’s just how he is. He doesn’t really care much about anything else aside from his work. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been married to him, given that he’s way out of my league.”

Mikayla was speechless

People blinded by love surely had their own logic. She couldn’t say much since Celeste was content with

her life.

“But I can tell you’re doing much better now. You actually have time to worry about me!” Celeste quipped.

“Speaking of which, I have to thank you for reminding me to buy a bracelet for Margaret last time. I accompanied her to her relative’s that day, and someone complimented her that she looks amazing with the bracelet. She was thrilled, and she gave me a gold necklace when we went back!” Celeste said.

Margaret still badgered Celeste incessantly about starting a family, though.

In her past life, Margaret disliked Celeste so much that it was practically impossible for her to give her

any jewelry.

Mikayla was relieved that everything had changed for the better.

Nolan’s first love didn’t visit his hospital, and his parents were nicer toward Celeste.

Time passed by in a blur as they became deeply engrossed in chatting and eating after Connor brought

some food over.

Jerome and Kylie, on the other hand, were nowhere to be seen,

*Jay texted me that he’s returning to his room first because he has to deal with work,” Connor explained.
