KASSIDY

__________

Something's wrong. I can feel it in my gut that something is off back on Earth.

Wren and Riot are preparing for something big, and they're doing it without me.

Jana is pacing in the back of my mind. She knows something's up too. What are those boys doing?

Time to find out.

I closed my eyes and wen to to the depths of my mind and found my bounding link to Kash. I reached for the simmering rope-like line and held on. Soon after, his thoughts were mine, his eyes reflected mine and I felt all that he felt.

'We have to prepare for this. I know that there are some Pack Members that will be on our side about this. Anais' coven can help us too, maybe even some damn vampires could help us. A lot of people want that Alpha gone.' Kash told them.

They were all sitting in the car together. My dad in the drivers seat, Kash in the passenger seat, with Ben and Wren in the backseat.

"Where are you guys going, and what the hell are you doing?" I yelled between our link.

'Little sister, everything will be okay after this. You need to stay safe and where you are 'cause things are about to get severely ugly.' Then he cut the link.

I have to leave.

Why do they think that they could just do things all by themselves.

They always keep me in the dark about everything...

Even if it's my own fault.

I threw the blankets off my legs and went to the door. I pounded on the door and when it decided not to give in, I called onto my wolf, Jana.

"We need to get to our family back home." I tell her urgently.

'Yes, we do. Riot told me everything that's happening down there. Kash was right, it is about to get ugly.' She said.

"What the hell does that mean?" I prodded.

There was a long silence before she spoke again. She was shifting around on her paws, avoiding my requests.

'We're at war, Kassidy...'

I kicked that door with all I had. My fiery and silvery auras clashed together as they wrapped around my body, shielding me from what's about to go down.

My claws had extended. My canines elongated on both upper and lower gums. I'm damn sure my eyes had changed to that smoldering fiery orange with slices of sharp silver embedded into to them.

I have to get back home to them.

Back home to him...

I opened my link to Jana again.

"We have to shift. I need to get this door down." I pressed.

'I understand. Let's do it.'

"You don't want to do that, my sweet child." I know that voice.

"Solanis?" She was standing right in the middle of the door frame. She raised her hand and all of the power I was exerting suddenly came back to me.

"What the hell was-" she raised her hand again and cut me off.

"You are too invested in this and need to calm down." She pointed to the cream colored couch and sat down, I followed and sat on the other side.

"You have to understand, Solanis. That's my mate and family out there!" She raised her hand again, quieting me.

"I do understand, and that's why before you go anywhere, we are going to train some more." She spoke softly.

"Train some more?" I'm confused.

"Yes, more. You have awoken your dormant powers and need to learn to control and use them." I nodded my head. She was right after all.

I let it all sink in and sat back into the cushion of the couch. I have more abilities now, I can barely process and control the ones I already have, let alone a new set. A hand reached out and grabbed my own.

"All will be well soon." She sighed and tightened her grip on my hand.

"You have much to discover about your own abilities, my sweet. I, myself down know the extend of which your powers stretch, so that's why we will explore together." Her eyes met mine. She had a soft smile on her aging face as she looked at me. Her warm gaze filled me with hope, like everything was gonna be better.

"So when do we start?" I ask. She let go of my hand and stood up.

"Now." She held her hand out for mine to take. I place my hand in hers and she yanked me up to my feet.

"I'll give you a while to change into something more comfortable to move in." I nodded and she walked out of the room again, closing the door behind her.

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, scratching my scalp. I moved to the closet and found some shorts and a sports bra. Surprisingly, it was all my size. I walked further into the space and found a bunch of other clothes. I even found some black work out shoes in the far back of the walk in closet space.

I walked out and headed to the bathroom. I ran the shower water and waited for it to be the right tempos and sighed. I looked at myself in the mirror.

I had a glow to me, but there was a frown on my face.

I missed Wren.

My gaze fell down to my neck. The black inked design flared back up at me as a reminder that I'll have to stay here instead of being with my mate.

I have a bad feeling about this.

__________

After showering and dressing, I walked back into the room. There was a small note card, a lot like the ones before, sitting on the nightstand.

'The door is open. I'll be waiting, my sweet child.'

I sighed and ran a hand through my damp hair. I grabbed a brush out of a drawer on the nightstand and brushed my hair and pulled it up into a haughty ponytail. I walked over to the door and opened it and stared out into the almost pitch black hallway.

I wonder why this wing is so dark.

And where are the windows in this place?

I shook my head, I didn't have tome for this. I jogged until I found another golden handled doorknob. I reached out and twisted the knob and pushed it open. A gust of warm air rolled over my body as the glaring sun leaked into my eyes.

My hands instinctively rose up and shielded my eyes from the Sun's harsh gaze. The sound of swaying grass and tree leaves filled the area as I stepped through the door frame and out into the training field. It was the same one Wren and I came to while waiting to mate.

Wren.

I let my eyes glide over each of the platforms and equipment pieces as my gaze landed on Solanis. She stood in all of her glory in the sunlight. Her greying hair blew in the light breeze and her stance was strong and ready.

"Are you ready?" She called out from the other side of the field. I nodded my head as another gust of air brushed over us. Goosebumps pebbles against my skin, I looked down and moved my hand to rub the cold away and felt a fist collide with my face. With a yelp, my body skidded across the grass. I looked down and seen grass and dirt was stuck onto me.

Hell, I even spat out a couple blades of the green plant. Before I even got the chance to get back up, Solanis was charging at me again. I stood up just in time and jumped out of the way of her fist.

"Hey!" I yelped as I steadied my feet. Dolan's smirked and sped up her steps and shook her head at me.

"This is how you fight when your mate and family are in trouble, dear?" She chuckled darkly at me. I ducked and dodged her raining fists as they came for me.

She's trying to hype me up.

My powers radiated under my skin threatening to come out as she spurred out more remarks.

"Don't tell me you've gone soft now. How would the daughter of an all powerful Lucan warrior feel about his daughter losing a fight to an old woman?" She went to tackle me down but I side stepped out of the way. I panted and launched at her first. I only focused on getting my claws out, but the rest of my power was trying to spill out.

"That's it, child. Focus on where your power is going. Channel it, then command it!" She instructed as her fists came into contact with my skin. I blocked one of fists with my arms and kicked her in the thigh making her take a surprising fall to the ground.

It wasn't long until she sprung back up and smiled at me in acknowledgment before coming at me again.

"What ekes should I be doing?" I panted out as I threw my hands and feet at her as she did the same.

My power wasn't gonna hold much longer at this rate. It kept slowly leaking and dripping out into the surface of my skin the longer I fought. I guess Solanis noticed too, because she slowed down a tiny bit to give me room. Then she stopped completely and took some steps back.

I stopped my attempts of beating her and took a breather. I hunched over and out my hands on my knees and gulped in breaths of air. She looked at me with concerned eyes before stepping closer to me.

"Are you holding up alright? I assume having to suppress your power is putting a strain on you." She reached out a hand and pressed it to my cheek.

I nodded and heaved a bit before standing up from my hunched form. I wiped the sweat on my forehead and took a deep breath in.

"Yeah, it's just going so great. Jana is just sitting in the background, but this power is just so crazy on its own." I panted.

"It's hard to handle, Solanis." I felt my throat close up with a lump of overwhelming feelings.

Why the sudden tears?

I have no idea. I'm not usually this emotional, but this new power, the power Jana has, and my own is making me feel all kind of things.

Plus, Wren isn't here anymore.

He's in the World of the Living.

And I'm here, in the Other Plain.

That alone puts me in a depressed mood.

Solanis took my hand in hers and sighed.

"I'm going to ask something near impossible of you. Is that okay with you?" She asked. I scrunched my brows in confusion at her and gave her a look that prompted her to continue.

"I want you to suppress your powers and dig into the new powers that have been placed." She stated in a serious tone. I shook my head at her and let my hand slip from hers.

"I can't do that." I ran both hands through my hair and pulled at my scalp. The anxiety is eating up at me.

I think I'm having a breakdown.

My chest heaved as my heart thumped aggressively against my rib cage, threatening to burst out. My eyes misted over with newly formed tears that almost tipped over.

"Kassidy, please calm down." Solanis pleaded with me, but my mind was already consumed with overwhelming thoughts and scenarios.

What if I can't handle the power.

What if I hurt someone.

What if I'm stuck here and can't get back home.

What if I can't see them again.

As those thoughts swirled through my mind and heart, a soft voice entered my mind.

'Breath, Kassidy, just breath and calm down. You can do this.' Jana's soft voice said to me.

"But what if I fail?" I cried into the back of my mind where she lay.

'Then try again until you get it right.' She sternly told me.

I shook my head and crumbled to the ground.

'So you're going to give up on them? Your family, your friends? Your mate?' Jana's voices boomed. I stopped that moment.

Am I giving up on them?

No, not today.

We're at war, and I refuse to let them down because of my own insecurities.

I stood up and wiped my tears and watched as Solanis watched me with worried eyes.

"Is everything alright?" She asked. I nodded and gave a wobbly smile.

"Tell me how." She looked like she didn't get what I was awakening of her but she had a look of realization that rested on her features. She nodded and brushed her leather training pants off.

"Shut down everything that swirls, fights, blazes inside of you, and bring forth the hidden part of you." She coaches. I nodded my head and did as she said.

I shut down everything.

The flames inside.

The boiling lava.

The anger.

The worry.

The power.

I felt so empty and cold without it, but there was something else the kept buzzing around. Like it was testing the waters of my body.

"I see that you e found it." Solanis' voice called. I gave a small nod, trying so hard to keep focus on that sliver of buzzing power.

I latched onto the linking bond that was stationed between me and the power. As soon as my fingers grazed it my entire body went into shock. I fell to the ground and watched in a shocked haze as Solanis' feet scrambled over to my toppled body.

The power forced my previous ones back to the surface and held me to the ground as it spread throughout me. It was foreign, but so...

Familiar.

Like it belonged there.

"Oh my..." Solanis gasped into her cupped hands. The feeling had went back into my limbs and I sat up.

"What is it?" I ask. She shakes her head and cups my cheeks in her hands and gazed into my eyes.

"They changed again."
