Chapter 10 The Aftermath

Something bright was shining in my face, as my eyes where closed.

"Is this heaven." I said amidst the bright light, then I started hearing voices one which I did not recognize saying.

"Rhodes. Miss.Rhodes are you ok?" I slowly opened my eyes to see that I was laying in a bed with white sheets covering my body, except my left arm which now was metallic. I looked up to see a man wearing a white outfit and a surgical mask looking down at me, above a huge light shined down. I looked forwards to see Bryce, Carl, Luke, and Christine with worried expressions. They then looked at me and smiled, Bryce started sobbing as he saw me looking at him. The doctor took a sigh of relief as he saw me sitting upwards. Bryce ran over to me and embraced me tightly saying in between sobs.

"Kelya your alive. I thought I was going to lose you."

"Good to see you Bryce." I replied then saw that he had cuts and bruises all over his body, and blood still trickling from some cuts. He leaned in close to me and kissed me passionate I kissed him back holding my right arm around him.

"Mr. Yoder! You need you injures to be looked at!" The doctor was shouting, Bryce leaned back up then looked down at me, I realized that the doctor allowed him to stay with me.

"Bryce you better go." I said looking up at him.

"Fine. See ya in a bit." He replied pecking me on the cheek, then followed a doctor out of my room.

"What happened wheres Kyrranth! How long has it been!" I exclaimed suddenly.

"He's fine. He saved you Kelya. You have been asleep for 2 days." Christine replied.

"But then what about the battle? Is it over?" I replied.

"We think so. The dragons and humans have been staying still ever since you where in the hospital." Luke replied.

"Where are Bilrth, Dayka, Chaithit, and Kyrranth?" I asked.

"Outside the nurses didn't want them in here. Probably because there too big." Carl replied, I smiled then got up from the bed, hugging each one of them. The doctor motioned for me to lay back down but I told him I was fine. I walked out of the hospital, to see the city was destroyed, buildings toppled over, skyscraper's no longer scraping the sky, the streets in shambles, and the statue of Sliyphia was destroyed as well. Dragons and humans where standing still facing one another.

A large purple dragon came running up towards me, I immediately recognized it was Kyrranth. He jumped on top of me the shouted in between sobs.

"Kelya..im..so..sorry! I..swear..I..didn't...mean..to! I patted him on the back noticing he had scars on his body.

"What matters is your alive." I replied embracing him tightly. "Where's Xorginym?" I asked, Kyrranth pointed over to a large black dragon that remained motionless. I ran over to him, in horror then saw that his large eyes where now closed. Scars, cuts, and bruises covered his entire body. Holes where now in his tattered wings, I embraced him tightly and began to sob. I then ran over and embraced Kyrranth he was sobbing as well. Then a black dragon with purple scale walked towards us tears flowing down her face as well, I realized that this was Chaithit. She put her talons around Kyrranth then said.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be. He died a hero." He replied, I then saw Bryce walk out of the hospital his cuts where now scars and he had bandages on his arms.

"Hey Kyrranth, Keyla, and Chaithit." He said, I walked over to him and said.

"You know what we have to do now."

"Yeah. ill be with you no matter what happens." He replied.

"What if they don't-"

"They will, and if they don't we will prove it." He replied, I looked up at Kyrranth and motioned for him to follow me to the center of the city, Bryce and Chaithit looked over at us concerned. Behind us where dragons in front where humans and soldiers looking up at us.

"People of Aresbury! We have to fight no longer! The evil rule of President Breckett is finished!" I said, Some of the crowd cheered other remained motionless. "He was telling everyone that the dragons where the monsters! He was wrong and I have proof." I motioned upwards towards Kyrranth, he looked down at me. " He has spared my life, protected me, fought with me, and saved me from death! He is not a monster none of them are! I know that this war has caused many to perish, loved ones, friends, and family." I paused then started to cry, then said. "But they would not want us to fight any longer. They would want us to end this war, not fill the land of Aresbury with blood! Thousands of years ago humans and dragons lived in harmony, so I don't see why we can't rebuild that harmony. AND PUT AN END TO THIS WAR ONCE AND FOR ALL!" I roared, the dragons did as well, some of the crowd cheered other started to cower in fear.

"Don't be afraid. Listen closer. They are not monsters."

"They are humans." I heard Kyrranth say, most of the people gaped open mouthed up at him, and then I realized that they heard him. Within seconds the whole crowd was cheering and shouting, even soldiers and dragons where cheering as well. I smiled at everyone then grinned over at Bryce he was grinning ear to ear over at me. Then I shouted.

"From this day forward the land will not be divided it will be one kingdom! From this day forward this kingdom will be named Xorginym!" The crowd erupted in cheers as Bryce ran over to me and kissed me then said.

"It worked! It worked! They listened!"

"Yeah they did. It's over its finally over." I replied my arm around him. Then I saw Kyrranth walk over to Chaithit they rubbed up against one another then there tails intertwined. I smiled at him he smiled back at me.
