“What do you mean by that she is not cursed?” Her words caused Logan to not only sit up straight but also jump off the chair that he was sitting in. “ If she is not cursed then why isn't she unconscious like that for years, Levy Taylor even if you want to wash off your name, you shouldn't make a gamble with someone's life, I didn't expect that you will be someone this ruthless, I really underestimated you.”

" Maybe if you even learned how to listen to others then it would have been much better,” sneered Levy as she stared at him, did he really have the right to look at her as if she was the scummiest of all? If anything he was much worse than her. Betraying his mate, choosing another female and then finally sending her to prison even without any proper evidence, even though she was to kill the entire world, Logan didn’t have the right to look down on her! “ I said that she isn't cursed but I never said that there was nothing wrong with her. If only you stayed put and kept your mouth shut, you would have learned what happened to her without offending me.”

Logan ignored her last sentence, he didn't really care whether she got offended or upset with his words. Instead, all his attention was on Lily when he heard that something was wrong with her, he immediately asked, “ What is wrong with her?”

Levy sneered, of course. Like always he only cared about Mavis and her sister, she was nowhere on his list of important people. She suppressed the anger that was bubbling in her heart and said, “She isn't unconscious because of a curse or anything of the sort, the reason she is like this is that her soul is split.”

"What?“Logan asked with a frown as he looked at Levy.

" She was supposed to be a sacrifice,” answered Levy, turning her head to look at the unconscious Lily. “ You do understand what a sacrifice is right?”

Of course, he understood what a sacrifice was but —- “ What does that have to do with Lily?"

"It has everything to do with her,” answered Levy as she looked up at Logan. Her eyes danced with mockery and disdain, “ When a human tries to cast a spell without having an ounce of magic in his or her blood then they need to have a sacrifice at ready. There are five stages of spells, the first one being the simplest with a sacrifice of an inanimate object precious to them and the most difficult one is the level five spell, it only works when there is a human sacrifice ready for them to offer.” “But she is alive!” Logan could understand what she was saying but at the same time, he wasn't prepared to accept what she was saying. Lily was used as a sacrifice? Who will do that? According to Levy, it was done by a human but if this was done by a human then didn’t it mean that Levy was innocent?

The second the word “innocent’ popped in his head, Logan felt a heart-stopping pain shoot through his head and he nearly bent double with pain. No, there was no way she was innocent, she might have asked a human to do something like that ...maybe she was the one who wanted to take both Mavis and Lily down that was why she did that —— and now that she knew that Lily was still alive she was trying to make excuses for herself. Most probably she was worried that if Lily woke up, she will tell the truth to him and the pack maybe that was why she was acting as such...but he wouldn't let her go either, she will have to wake Lily up no matter what!

He heaved a calming breath while rubbing his forehead and said, “ What does that have to do with Lily and her soul being split, give me a proper explanation.”

* A human sacrifice or any sacrifice is supposed to be done with great concentration and focus, because only then can it be counted as successful but there are times when the concentration of the caster is shifted and unfortunate accident like these might happen,” she pointed her finger at Lily and continued, “ Most probably the one who cast the spell whatever it was, he or she might have suffered through a moment of hesitation or something of the sort and that was why Lily who was supposed to die had her soul ripped in three pieces.”

* Three?”

She nodded. “That's right three, like a human mind that has conscious, subconscious and unconscious parts—— the soul also has three parts basically you can call them the virtuous, the evil and the neutral. When the three of them are combined together they become a complete soul and help a human work as normal but in case something shakes the frequency between them then that's when the trouble starts, the level five grade spell caused these three elements to shake up and go into an unstable equilibrium. That caused her soul to separate into three parts and two of them have escaped her body and only the neutral is what remains inside her because only one-third of her soul is in her body, she is unconscious like this and cannot grow past the time she has been attacked.”

Finished dealing with the explanation she leaned back and stared at Logan, he wasn't looking at her though, he was looking at Lily, his eyes dimmed and whatnot. She took one glance of his aggrieved expression and looked away—— hah that girl was only lying on the bed and yet he was that distressed for her and when it came to her, he didn't even flinch while unsheathing his claws.

For two to three minutes no one spoke.

It was Logan who finally broke the silence as he asked, “ So, what are we supposed to do now?”
