Chapter 158.

Chapter Forty–Nine: I Missed You. Aiden

Kiara, at the age of Seventeen

Seven days before her eighteenth birthday

Kiara POV:

“All in good time, little one,”

“We promise it’s for the best,”

“We know it’s hard, Kiara. We just ask for your patience.”

“We won’t let you down. Trust us.”

Kayden and Jayden’s words from three days ago hadn’t left my mind for even a second. Even though during these past three days, I had spent almost every minute with them more like they were adamant about

taking me everywhere with them. Only leaving me alone when they had to attend court and royal matters. As much as I loved it, I hated it. at the same time! As much I loved spending time with them, it was as if, around people who weren’t either beta Tim or Gamma Chris, they were completely different, acting as if I was an annoyance tailing them. The more mood swings, then a girl on her period, swear to the goddess.

Plus, whenever I tried talking to them about our connection, they either changed the topic or ignored me completely. They had pushed it to the point that I was done was their snarky today and decided to wander the grounds instead them tagging along with them. Not like I was needed anyway. Also, I was hoping to find Aiden. The last time I texted him, he mentioned he was returning to the castle for his alpha training, and since alpha training started about two days ago, he should be here by

now

It had been so long since I had seen him in person; even though we Facetimed or texted, it wasn’t all the same plus, with acclimating back in Crescent Haven over the two years, I hardly had time. It made me feel like a horrible friend, but Aiden was so understanding, always. telling me he understood and was happy at least he had a chance to talk to me a quality I loved about him. If only Kayden and Jayden. would be this understanding.

I sighed!

Venturing into the lush green expanse that made up the training field, my eyes were drawn to a wolf of commanding stature in the midst of his solitary practice. Aiden, in his wolf form, was a spectacle to behold. He was a striking fusion of strength and grace, with a glossy coat of black–grey that seemed to shimmer in the sunlight, dappled by

the forest’s soft shadows. His eyes, as strikingly blue as a clear summer sky, sparkled with an infectious zest for life that I had always admired.

Noticing my presence, he abruptly shifted back into his human form. His tousled hair was a few shades darker than his wolf’s coat, falling casually around his handsome features. His muscular frame, accentuated by the intense Alpha training, was covered only by a pair of training shorts. But it was his welcoming grin that brought warmth to my heart.

“Kiki!” he exclaimed, dashing towards me with a boyish enthusiasm that belied his hulking physique.

1 was swept into his embrace, his arms a protective circle around me, pulling me close to his chest. It was a comforting familiarity, a reminder of our shared past and our deep–rooted friendship.

“You’re all grown up, Kiki.” he said, his voice husky with emotion.

I giggled and moving back in his arms as I looked at with so much fondness.

“I should be saying that to you.” I chuckled

As we settled down on the grassy hill overlooking the castle, we fell into easy conversation, catching up on the time we had missed. The conversation flowed naturally between us, from his exciting experiences at Alpha training to my own struggles at the castle. With at bit of a rueful smile, I confessed, knowing if anyone could help with the questions, it would be Aiden since no one else wanted to give me.

any

“King Kayden and King Jayden, they’re different, Aid. I don’t

understand them. One moment, they’re warm and caring, and the next, they act like I’m a nuisance. It’s like dealing with two different people. in one body.” I said, sighing.

There was a momentary pause, his face grew serious.

“They should treat you better, Kiki,” he said.

His hand was gripping his sandwich a little too tightly that I had brought out for us. I saw a flash of anger in his usually gentle eyes.

“You’re not a nuisance. You’re special.” He muttered.

I chuckled awkwardly at his unexpected show of anger. But soon, I felt a discomfort crawl up my spine, as I observed the intense expression on Aiden’s face. His blue eyes were dark, almost stormy. It was jealousy, a raw and unrestrained jealousy that I had never seen in him before. I felt an uneasy silence settle between us. The carefree reunion had suddenly turned into an awkward meeting. I was taken aback, not knowing how

to react.

“I… I should probably head back, Aid,” I finally said, breaking the silence. “I just… needed some air.”

He nodded, his face returning to its usual calm demeanour.

“Sure, Kiki. Just remember, I’m here for you. Always.” He said.
