Chapter 149. 

“I’ll always be there for you, kiki, no matter what. Even when you don’t want me to be, I will be. You’re my girl and will always stay like that.” Aiden said, his hold becoming tighter. 

I wasn’t sure what he meant, but for the first time, I wasn’t comfortable with his words. It was as if he had an underlying meaning behind them. Just as I wiggled to loosen his hold, looked up at him, and opened my mouth to ask what he meant, our gaze broke when I heard Beta Tim and Gamma Chris’s voices. 

“Mr. Black, I believe warrior Max summoned you for your progress report. Then what are you doing here?” Said, Beta Tim 

“I suggest you make your way there now, Mr. Black; Ms. Middleton is expected to be down. Her transportation has arrived.” Said Gamma Chris 

I could see they both were on edge and were even frowning at Aiden, which usually they didn’t. 

“He just came to say goodbye,” I said, coming to Aiden’s defence. 

Despite making me uncomfortable moments ago, I wouldn’t let him get in trouble for saying goodbye. They both looked at me, their frowns directing my way before they nodded and turned to Aiden, making sure he left. Aiden nodded, turning around and giving me another tight

hug before kissing my check and leaving. My eyes teared up; I hated goodbyes. I sniffed back my tears and faced Beta Tim and Gammal Chris, giving them both weak smiles as I went to get my bag. 

“Little queen, don’t worry about the bags. Just follow us.” Said Gamma Chris 

Huh? Where were they taking me? 

Before I could ask, they walked ahead, and I followed behind them. 

“We’re going to miss you, little queen.” Said, Beta Tim 

I smiled up at him; I would miss them too, probably more so than they would. They had become like big brothers to me during my time here. 

“I’m going to miss you guys too. I’ll try convincing mom and dad to let me visit JJ sometimes, and I can also meet you guys then.” I said. 

They both chuckled, and I swear I heard them mumbling something along the lines of ‘I won’t need an excuse to be here,‘ but then again, I could be wrong. We all stopped in front of the library doors as they both bent down, each hugging me and telling me they would miss me and I would see them very soon and then was ushered inside. As soon as the door closed behind me, I looked ahead, and my breath hitched. King Kayden and king Jayden stood tall and regal as they always did. I couldn’t stop the flutter in my tummy looking at them and taking in that divine musk scent. This was the last time I’ll see them this close because once I was gone, I would only see them if I came to the palace, and chances of that were low because I had no business here now. My

eye never left them as they slowly approached me: I should’ve cast my eyes down, we weren’t supposed to look directly into their eyes, but as much as I wanted to. I couldn’t. I couldn’t tear my eyes from theirs. Their eyes held so many emotions distraught, longing and, dare I say, love. 

“You weren’t planning to leave without saying goodbye, were you now, little one.” Said, king Kayden 

I wanted to say I would never leave if I had a choice. But unfortunately, I couldn’t as I shook my head and smiled at him. 

“I wanted to, but I thought you both might be busy, and it’s not like you need to see me off. You have a hundred and one things to do.” I said. 

“We can never be busy for you, little one. Haven’t we always told you for anything, anything at all come to us?” Said king Jayden as he pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. 

I sucked in a breath. Please don’t do this; please don’t break my heart and leave me confused. 

I smiled at both, scared to say anything. Thinking my mouth would betray my mind and sprout out what I wanted to say: that I didn’t want to leave, I didn’t want to be far away from them, and why couldn’t I be their luna queen? 

“We’re going to miss you, little one.” Said King Kayden

His words brought tears to my eyes. They both gave me sad smiles as they both hugged me. I was shocked at first but calmed down instantly. They smelled my hair like Aiden had just done, but the same repulsive feeling I got from Aiden didn’t come from them. No, if anything, I felt this sizzle on my skin, but it instantly died. I felt at home in their arms. What I wouldnt do to stay here forever. 

“I’m going to miss you both as well so much….so much.” I hiccuped. 

“We know little one. We know.” Said, king Jayden 

No, they didn’t! They knew nothing about what I held in my heart for them, and they never would because it was wrong, and I could lose them. 

“Stay strong and be good little one. We’ll know when your up to no good.” Said, king Kayden 

I chuckled and sniffed back my tears before I pulled away from them. Looking at them for the first time in six years, I saw what was in their eyes clear as day: love and devotion. I didn’t know what was going to happen once I left, but I knew one thing I would never lose the twins. Someway, I had made a place for myself in their hearts, and even though I couldn’t be their mate, I could survive knowing they would at least never forget me.
