Twenty-One: Coronation Part Four

Kiara, at age nine

Kiara POV:

Auntie Meg had dressed me up in the prettiest red gown I had ever seen. She said that the queen specifically sent the dress for me as a congratulatory gift for my scholarship. The dress was long and reached the floor; it had sparkles everywhere, making me feel like a real-life Cinderella. Auntie Meg had two braids on both sides of my head and pinned them and put small white flowers in them. Rex and JJ were speechless when they saw me; even they admitted I looked like a queen, not a princess. Which was nice, but I liked being a princess; I was too small to be a queen. I reminded myself to thank the queen once the coronation was done.

I had always read about coronations in our history books, but being at one was so exciting. Everything was done so pretty in the ballroom. The whole place was decorated with white and ivory flowers, crystal chandeliers and candles. It was fairytale-

like as if we were in Disneyland. The thought made me sad a little; how badly I wanted to visit but with me here for the next few years, it would be near impossible. The realization that maybe the twins could take Rex and me and I could tag along JJ came to mind, but I quickly shut it down. Dumb, Kiara! They only said I should come to them when I missed JJ or my family. However, they did also once say I could ask for anything. But, asking for a trip to the human multiverse seemed a little too much. I was broken out of my thought when I heard the trumpet blare, and the door opened; prince Kayden and prince Jayden walked in with two men behind them: they were probably the royal beta and ga*ma. I wanted to wave at them but didn’t, that would not be proper royal etiquette, and we were in the middle of a ceremony. I was broken out of my thoughts when I felt JJ tug my hand and whisper in my ear.

“Kiki, you need to bow. Do it, or you’ll get in trouble.” Said JJ

The thought of getting in trouble scared me, and I immediately bowed. I had been so busy looking at the twins I had totally forgotten. Yikes! I hope mom and daddy didn’t notice; they would not be happy. I only raised my head when I heard the elder on the stage to take our seats; taking our seats, the elder spoke.

“Do you, Kayden Daniel Whitmore, swear in front of our goddess, Selene, that you will uphold the wolf race with sincerity, respect and equality.” Asked the elder.

“Do you, Kayden Daniel Whitmore, swear to do right by the crown and give the people of your kingdom a luna queen and heirs for the royal blood Whittmoore to continue.” Said the elder

The elder asked for prince Jayden’s hand for the same cut; however, I didn’t look this time. I was not too fond of both of them getting hurt. They were my friends, and being cut like that, no doubt, would be painful. When I heard the elder tell prince Jayden to kneel, that’s when I turned back and faced the stage. After the speech was finished, everyone let loose and started to mingle. As much as I wanted to go king Kayden and King Jayden to congratulate them, they seemed so busy, and they weren’t even looking in my direction. The thought made me sad, we had just become friends, and they had already forgotten about me. However, I pushed the thought aside; they were very busy. Just as I grabbed JJ to go towards the dessert table, I saw Rex coming our way. I smiled and waved at him.

“Guys, let’s go get some cake pops. I heard there really good.” Said Rex.

I squealed and grabbed his hand as he led me towards the table with JJ right beside me. Just as we were about to reach, Rex had stopped and stumbled back, making him fall and pulling me down with him.

“Rex! Ow!” I said, rubbing my bum

“Kiara, are you alright.” I heard

Looking up, I saw it was King Kayden looking down at me with worry. I just smiled and nodded; I was just being dramatic with Rex. I didn’t expect it to be king Kayden. Wasn’t he and king Jayden swamped with people not even a minute ago? Rex helped me up, and I bowed in front of king Kayden. He was a king, after all, and the royal etiquette clearly stated that we were to bow whenever we came in front of the king or queen.

“You sure you’re okay, Kiara.” Asked king Kayden

“Yes, your majesty,” I said, smiling

“Where were you all off to?” Asked king Kayden

But before I could reply, Rex beat me to it.

“Kay, get out of the way. All the desert is going to finish.” Rex said before he dragged me and JJ away before king Kayden got a word out.

I giggled when I saw king Kayden glaring at Rex but soon forgat everything else when I tasted the chocolaty goodness. Maybe Deserts were a little more up in rank than Disney princesses!
