Chapter 99

Matthew!" Willow waved at Matthew with all her might

A lump welled up in her throat before she could even tell him that Aaron was gone. She broke out in a sob when she thought of telling him that he would no longer be able to hold Aaron in his arms and sing "Little Star" to him.

Her eyes reddened as she darted toward Matthew's Lamborghini. "Matthew, can you please get out of the car? I have something to tell you."

"Get lost!" Matthew's indifferent gaze swept past her. The gentleness which once filled his eyes was now long gone.

Willow choked, suddenly at a loss for words. She sucked in a few deep breaths before continuing, "Matthew, it's really important. I'm not here for my own sake. It's for Aaror"

She whisked out a photo of Aaron which she cherished a lot from her bag. Her fingers quivered when she held it out to him.

Look, this is Aaron, I know you might've lost your memories, but you used to love Aaron a lot. I don't believe you'd completely forget about him." Willow's spirits lifted when she saw him slowly winding down his car window. She knew he couldn't have forgotten everything!

Their bond was ingrained in their flesh and blood and had been nurtured over four years of mutual support. How could he simply forget it all? "Matthew, Aaron really wants to meet you." Willow handed him the photo. "He wants to hear you sing 'Little Star' to him again."

A wave of delight washed over her when he took the photo. Yet, she felt like she'd been stabbed in the next instant.

Matthew glanced over at Aaron's photo. He sneered and ripped the photo into pieces without a hint of hesitation. He threw it away. The pieces of the photo fell to the ground, circling Willow's feet.

She extended her hand, desperately trying to grab parts of it. A tiny piece of debris, no larger than a fingernail, was all that she managed to acquire. Spiraling in turmoil, she fell to her knees. She grabbed the scattered pieces on the floor and picked them up meticulously.

H

"Aaron, my Aaron..."

She stowed all the pieces in her bag after she had fished the last plece up from the ground. She held onto her bag like it was a priceless treasure as if it held more than just a photo.

"Matthew, I don't blame you for tearing his photo apart. You forgot us," Willow croaked.

Her voice was so hoarse that it sounded like her vocal folds had been run over by a truck. Her vacant eyes flickered with a hint of helplessness.

"Can't you fulfill Aaron's last wish? Please, Matthew. Aaron's gone. He's..." she choked, finding it impossible to find her voice. She clasped both hands to her face, forcing herself to regain her composure,

She began, "Matthew, Aaron wants you to go to his grave and sing 'Little Star' to him one last time."

Matthew snickered, disgust evident in his eyes. "Willow, what are you playing at now? Cutting off one of your fingers isn't enough, huh?

"Fuck off! I told you I won't spare you if you ever appear before me again!"

"I won't leave!" Willow straightened herself stubbornly. "Matthew, this is Aaron's last wish. Please fulfitbit, will you? Just sing 'Little Star" to

him-just once will do! I'll do anything as long as you're willing to fulfill his last wish, even if it means cutting off all my limbs!"

Glaring at Willow, whose eyes were red, Matthew couldn't fathom why his heart ached so badly when he saw the despair in her eyes.

His frustration peaked when he realized he actually felt a sliver of compassion for the woman who had clung to him and nearly killed his beloved Willa, Withdrawing his gaze, be hissed before he winded up the car window, "Get lost!"
