Suddenly there was a thump at the front door. Then a howl went up causing Byron to stiffen.

Landon growled from somewhere behind her, stating, “Someone was watching and waiting for you to return, Byron.”

“Looks like,” Byron agreed as he let her go. Turning, he opened the door and found a knife stuck in it, holding a note. After pulling the knife from the door, he closed it before he read, “The girl is mine. Give her to me and we can avoid a war between Packs.”

Byron’s head came up, his eyes glowing a bright gold, and he let out a deafening snarl as he opened the door back up and stepped outside.

Lynn could see his muscles clenching across his shoulders in anger as he stood boldly on the front porch. In a loud and booming voice, Byron stated, “She is mine, and you will not have her.”

“Then there will be war!” Someone shouted back from the edge of the woods.

Peeking around Byron. Lynn saw a shadow move and shift from man to wolf. Another howl went up, slowly fading out as whoever it was turned and left.

Byron stepped back and closed the door. He continued to growl deep in his chest as he turned to face Lynn. If it had been anyone else, Lynn would have been scared at the feral look on his face. His eyes were gold and glowing brightly, his lip curled back in a snarl, his canines lengthened. This was Byron though, her mate and she held no fear of him, only love.

Byron stepped closer to her, and Lynn began to back up until she was against the wall. He moved in so close their chests were brushing. Lifting his hand, he wrapped it in her hair as he stated, “You are mine.”

“Yes.”

“He will not have you,” Byron informed her.

“No.”

“I will fight him, and he will die for even thinking he can take my mate from me,” Byron continued.

“He deserves everything you give him because I belong to you.”

“And only me,” Byron said.

“Yes, and only you.”

Byron dropped her hair then and picked her up. Turning, he toted her off toward their bedroom.

“We’ll just let ourselves out and lock the door behind us,” Landon called out, laughter in his voice.

Byron never slowed down, he just kept walking.

Lynn heard the door closing just as Byron closed the door to the bedroom. He then sat her down, continuing to make growling noises deep in his chest. His wolf was seriously angry, and Lynn wasn’t sure what she should do.

“Hug him, kiss him, let him know we are here for him.” The soft voice of her wolf whispered.

So, stepping closer, Lynn unbuttoned his shirt and lay her hands on his bare chest. Softly and slowly, she moved them in a loving manner across it, then over his shoulders, pushing his shirt off. Once her hands were on his shoulders, she began to lay soft kisses on his chest as she gently massaged his tensed muscles.

Soon his growls turned from angry to aroused.

Lynn glanced up to see his golden eyes still staring at her. However, now they were dilated with desire instead of anger. “Byron?”

Byron cocked his head, saying nothing.

“Make love to me,” she demanded.

In a blink of an eye, Lynn found herself laying sprawled out on the bed with Byron, naked. His hands were everywhere, his lips moving along her skin creating a heat she felt all the way to her bones. Lynn scrapped her hands through his short hair as she moaned.

Lynn whimpered when his mouth left her body and opened her passion-heavy lids to look at him.

“Are you sure sugar?” Byron asked. “I’m almost at the point of no return here because I want you so desperately, but I want you to be ready too.”

His eyes were no longer gold. Instead, they were his beautiful sky blue, but his gaze on her was still heated.

“Oh, yes, Byron,” she whispered. “I want you in every way, my love. I honestly don’t know how we’ve managed to wait this long.”

“With much difficulty,” he murmured.

Then his lips were back on hers, kissing her breathless. His hand moved across her stomach, leaving flames of heat everywhere his fingers touched until he reached her breast. Once there he gently squeezed and pinched until her nipple was a hard bud.

Then his lips were there, sucking hard as Lynn’s body arched under him, moans and whines leaving her mouth. His hand moved downward, moving between her legs, spreading them even as he found her entrance. Lynn bucked her hips as she dug her nails into his shoulders, crying out his name.

Byron moved over her.

Lynn pulled her knees up making room for his hips. Her hands grabbed him, tugging at his hips, and trying to move him to where her body ached to be filled.

Byron resisted and she whined as he nipped lightly on her ear. Then, in a whisper, he asked, “Are you ready for me, sugar?”

“Yes, please,” she begged, her hips bucking again.

“It’s going to hurt, but I’ll be as gentle as I can,” Byron murmured. Then he began to push the tip of his hard cock into her tight hole.

Lynn bucked, silently begging for more. She wanted to feel him inside her, filling her, stretching her. Her stomach was clenched in need, desire thumping through her veins like fire. The tingling between her thighs was almost painful, as she clawed at his back, demanding his invasion.

“Sugar, I hope you’re ready for a little one because we forgot to use protection. Although, to be honest, I’m not sure my wolf would have let that stop him. I believe he would have found a way through it,” Byron mentioned as he leaned on one elbow to gaze down at her.

Lynn laughed softly. “Mm-hm, the way he was growling I do believe you’re right.” Then with a soft sigh, she closed her eyes. “That’s alright though, I know you will give me a beautiful baby.”

That was her last thought as he moved off her and she faded into sleep.

Byron lay watching his mate sleep for a few moments, gently rubbing at her belly as he wondered if he had indeed impregnated her.

After a few minutes, he began to feel restless and stood, making his way to the bathroom for a shower. Stepping under the spray, he let the hot water pour down on him, his thoughts chaotic.

The Simmion Pack had just declared war on him and his Pack. He wasn’t even Alpha; how could he have let the man goad him into something so stupid?

Byron hit his fist angrily against the wall, then calmed, as he chuckled. “Look at me. The Pack peacemaker who just started a war!”

He felt his wolf growl inside, saying, “She is our mate. We will make war, we will go to war, we will end wars for her. Trust me, trust me when I say this, we will be enough to END him. We may not be completely Alpha, but we have something worth fighting for and it will be enough. When the dust settles, Alpha Raymond and his excuse for a son will be lying dead before us. Do not doubt me on this.”

“I don’t,” Byron whispered. “I have never doubted you. I doubt myself plenty, but never you.”

Then turning off the shower he stepped out. After he was dry and once more dressed, he went to call his dad. He was positive Landon had already told him what had happened, however, Byron wanted to tell him personally why he had done it.
