Curtis sat down in a chair in his office. He poured himself a cup of water and turned on the security monitors. Alliance had surveillance cameras planted in the public areas all major cities so that they could detect terrorist activity as quickly as possible. They did not invade people’s privacy; they simply wanted to monitor abnormal activity.

He took a sip of the warm water, and sat back in his chair looking at the various screens in front of him. Suddenly the monitors went black, and a warning flash projected from all screens.

WARNING…

BOMB ATTACKS IN NEW YORK CITY, TOKYO, LONDON, and PARIS.

13 million estimated casualties.

The screens went blank again…

WARNING

BOMB ATTACKS IN NEW YORK CITY, TOKYO, LONDON, PARIS, and MILAN.

20 million estimated casualties.

Curtis spilled the water on his shirt. “Oh my God, it’s happening.” He mind called his chief security officer.

“Ute, they’ve attacked NYC, Tokyo, London, Paris, and Milan. 20 million are dead.”

There was silence on the call., Curtis thought she’d hung up. “Oh my lord, What do we do now?”

“The news will spin this as an attack from the Middle East, but I believe it’s was Nero’s. Contact our special force and deploy them to his base here in Berlin. We’ll attack Nero.”

A rare bright sun warmed Mari’s cheeks, and she opened her eyes and shielded them with her arm. Shit I left my blinds….She turned to her clock; it was nine a.m. on Saturday morning. Mari yawned, got out of bed, and stretched. She remembered that she had just been inside the body of the woman who said that they were the same person. But last night didn’t feel like a dream. But maybe it was?

She walked up the wooden stairs, and looked out the window at the stillness of morning. Mari and her Papa used to eat breakfast together on Saturday mornings. It was a time Mari looked forward to. She had to find her papa, losing her mother and best friend were already too much. Mari made a cup of coffee as she wondered how she could find who took her papa. She believed the woman she killed was connected to both, and her associates would come looking for Mari. She grabbed her coffee and turned on the hologram news channel.

An image of her father appeared in front of her. EX CIA AGENT COMMITS SUICIDE.

More details to come as we discover them. Mari slammed her fist on the counter. “They’re lying.”

The hate inside her boiled as she picked up the hologram device and threw it against the wall. Not knowing what to do all she could think of was calling Veleda. She mind called her….

“My dear. What a surprise to hear from thee this morning.”

Mari’s lips were trembling. She couldn’t spit out any words.

“What’s wrong my child?”

Finally she spoke. “They murdered my father.”

“Oh dear, who did this?”

“You were right about the woman in my dreams… I was in her body last night.”

“Please come over now.”

Mari exited the airway onto a sidetrack in the direction of Veleda’s. Tears of pain streamed down her face. Now both of her parents are gone and her best friend, too, the pit in her stomach ached like never before. The fury inside was reaching a breaking point, Mari felt like she was going to explode. She hoped that she didn’t do something stupid that would get her in trouble, but her thoughts were dark and images of shooting and killing people flashed into her mind.

She parked the machine on Veleda’s cobblestone driveway. Mari stepped out of the hovercraft and walked over to the front door. Veleda was waiting for her.

“Come in, my child, I’ll make some tea.”

Mari walked downstairs and sank into the chair. The smell of the plants, flowers, and burning sage didn’t calm her this time. She looked outside at the flowers blooming in the garden, but she did not see beauty, just black rage. Veleda’s home was brimming with life, yet it gave her no comfort . She wondered if she were cursed, if all the people close to her would be killed.

Veleda stepped into the room and handed her a tea. “Tell me about your father?”

Mari covered her face with her hands. “I can’t now.” Last night, I was inside the body of the woman in my dreams, and it didn’t feel like I was in someone else’s body, it felt like my own.”

“That’s because that is what is so. Last night you become aware of your cross dimensional travel.”

“But then I woke up this morning. Doesn’t that mean it’s just a dream?”

“My child, it felt real because it was. I did not want to mention this to you before, not until you unlocked your gift.”

“What do you mean?”

“You are one of only a few people on Earth where the dream world and waking world are one and the same For you there is no difference between the two.”

Mari shook her head. “That’s not possible.”

“Oh, but It’s possible for you. Now that you are aware of this gift, you must follow your destiny.”

Mari sighed, and shook her head. “Again with the stupid destiny crap”

“You may not want to see it, but you are among the few who might be able to save humans from extinction.”

“Extinction? How would I do that?”

“You see the world crumbling around you, and now the next war is upon us. The world is deteriorating, and if humans don’t evolve these ways of destruction, it’ll be the end for us.”

“What do I have to do with helping to save us?”

“What you discover in your dream world can help us change, help save us from ourselves.”

“But one person cannot affect an entire world.”

“There are others like you, and they have followers who are helping them. These people are called the Aeronionot collective, and they’ve been waiting for their leader to discover full power. You made contact with them last night.”

“The woman I spoke to on the projection?”

“Yes.”

Mari went silent. Her thoughts raced. She knew something was different about her dreams, and she felt something inside her that was different than the others, but this? “Sorry, I don’t believe it.”

Veleda poured her another tea.. “I must warn you. The harder you resist, the more painful your life will be.”

Mari sipped the tea and set the cup back down on the little wooden table in front of her. “Saying I am supposed to help save the world is insane.”

“Believe what you would like. But I didn’t say that you and the others will save the people of the earth. That fate is yet undecided. What is clear is that you are meant to be among those who try.”

Mari didn’t say anything, she just stood up and walked out.
