Chapter 1013

Nola's face flushed as she witnessed the scene.

Mrs. Kaur was equally shocked, looking at the manager. "Is she a VIP customer?"

She scrutinized Sylvia's ordinary attire, noting that she wore no high-end brands. However, Sylvia's beauty made anything she wore stand out.

The manager glanced at the Kaur family mother and daughter, who looked like clowns. "This is Designer X, the chief designer of X Group. She founded our brand X. This dress, Moonlight, is also her design." He then turned respectfully to Sylvia, ignoring the stunned mother and daughter. "Designer X, we apologize for not recognizing you earlier."

Sylvia didn't even glance at the Kaur family mother and daughter, whose faces had turned beet red. She calmly told the manager, "It's fine. There are many people who don't know me, not just you." The onlooking ladies were also shocked.

They hadn't expected her to be the chief designer of the X brand, a significant figure in the fashion world.

They were relieved they hadn't made fools of themselves like the Kaur family mother and daughter.

Carley was in a daze. She suddenly remembered when she met Sylvia on the first floor, and Sylvia was interrupted by the Kaur family mother and daughter before she could finish her sentence. Sylvia probably wanted to tell her that if she wanted to shop at the X counter, she could get a discount. That must have been it, she thought silently.

The sales clerk struggled to maintain her smile. Fortunately, although she hadn't brought out Moonlight earlier, she had been polite and respectful to Designer X.

If she hadn't been, she might have been fired by now.

A few minutes later, Carley emerged from the fitting room, stunning everyone.

The crescent-colored dress perfectly showcased her captivating curves and unique feminine charm.

"Beautiful! Perfect!" Sylvia smiled at Carley. "It suits you very well."

The manager quickly stepped forward, showering Carley with praise. "Miss Kaur, this dress looks tailor-made for you."

"How much is this dress?" Carley asked without hesitation.

"The dress is priced at $340, 000, but since you're friends with Designer X... Designer X, what do you think is appropriate?" The manager dared not make a decision and quickly sought Sylvia's opinion. Sylvia looked at Carley. "It's a gift. Just a dress."

What?

A gift?

A $340, 000 dress given away just like that?

Everyone looked at Sylvia in disbelief.

"No, no, no... Miss Andrews, you've already been very kind to me. If I take this dress for free, I'd be shameless. How about a 10% discount?" Carley was overwhelmed and quickly declined. "It's too valuable!" This was a $340, 000 dress!

Sylvia had healed her face without charging the Kaur family because of Clare.

Now she was giving her a dress. Had she saved the galaxy in her previous life to meet someone as wonderful as Sylvia?

"Alright then, just take it for $40, 000."

$40,000!

A $300, 000 discount!

It was practically a gift!

The ladies around them looked at Carley enviously.

"$40,000? That's too little! At least $300, 000!" Carley insisted. "Manager, charge me $300,000. I'll pay by card."

The manager glanced nervously at Sylvia, not daring to act rashly.

Sylvia smiled; she liked Carley's straightforward nature.

"Go ahead."

Since Sylvia didn't insist on $300, 000, the manager shakily took Carley's card and charged $40, 000.

When Carley received the bank notification, she was stunned. "You really sold it to me for $40, 000! Aren't you afraid your president will blame you?"

"The president is my brother." Sylvia thought of Isaac and raised an eyebrow. "He wouldn't say anything even if it were a hundred dresses."

A $340,000 dress for $40, 000.

What kind of privilege was this!

It was incredibly enviable.

Nola suddenly realized that she and Carley were sisters.

She immediately put on a flattering smile. "Designer X, what dress do you think would suit me?"

She walked over to a dress she liked. "How about this one? Can I try it on and get a discount?"

Mrs. Kaur quickly chimed in. "Yes, Designer X, please help me pick one too!"

The mother and daughter changed their attitudes as quickly as actors on stage.

"Sorry, I don't know you two. We're not acquainted," Sylvia refused without hesitation.

The mother and daughter froze again. "Sorry about earlier; we didn't recognize you. Please forgive us for Carley's sake."

"Yes, we didn't know you were a designer before. Now that we know each other, everything's fine," Nola quickly softened her tone. "Besides, we're family with Carley. It would be great if you could give us a discount too!"

If they could get dresses worth hundreds of thousands for just a fraction of the price, they could save a lot of money.

That would be fantastic!

Sylvia looked at their ugly faces expressionlessly. "I don't know you. I didn't know you before and won't know you in the future."

At that moment, a sales clerk came over with a beautifully packaged box containing the dress. "The dress is ready..."

"Send it to Carley's estate at the Kaur family manor," Sylvia said calmly. "Don't deliver it to the wrong place." "Yes, yes," the sales clerk responded quickly and left.

Carley was almost dizzy with happiness as she walked out of the X counter with Sylvia. It felt surreal.

For the first time in years, she felt triumphant over the Kaur family mother and daughter.

And it was all thanks to Sylvia.

She held Sylvia's hand. "Miss Andrews, thank you."

"For what?" Sylvia could see that Carley was a straightforward girl with a good heart. "It was nothing."

"Aren't you going to pick out a dress?" Carley asked curiously.

"I already have dresses," Sylvia thought of the spacious wardrobe in the Hipps family home filled with dresses still with tags on them.

Old Mrs. Hipps had them prepared for her.

She could just pick one tomorrow; there was no need to buy a new one.

"Then let me treat you to a meal! There's a restaurant on the top floor with hotpot and Western cuisine. What would you like?" Carley linked arms with Sylvia. "Hotpot," Sylvia said as she felt hungry.

They went to the hotpot restaurant and found a window seat when Carley noticed Jocelyn entering with a mask and hat on, followed by two maids.

Jocelyn was wrapped up tightly and seemed startled when she saw Carley.

Her eyes showed a hint of shock; this b****'s face had indeed recovered!

But she quickly regained her composure.

Carley waved at her casually. "Violet Snow, you're here too? Want to join us?"

Jocelyn coughed twice. "I've been feeling unwell lately and can't eat hotpot. But I craved it so much that I came just to smell it."

She coughed again. "I'll leave now! Enjoy your meal."

In her haste to leave, Jocelyn didn't notice Sylvia sitting opposite Carley.

As soon as she left, her two maids followed suit.

Outside the hotpot restaurant, Jocelyn fumed with anger and cursed under her breath.

"B****! Her face really has recovered!"

"She stole my face! Unforgivable!"

She completely forgot that it was she who had stolen Carley's face in the first place and now blamed Carley for taking it back.

The two maids were too scared to make a sound or speak up.

Inside the hotpot restaurant, Carley watched Jocelyn's retreating figure for a while before turning back around.

"She's wearing a mask tightly; it seems like her face really has issues."

"I told you it was her curse," Sylvia said nonchalantly.

By then, their food had arrived along with the hotpot broth.

The hotpot bubbled with steam and released a fragrant aroma of beef tallow.

It made one's mouth water.

"Maybe... she's just got a cold," Carley still found it hard to believe that her best friend would harm her.

"Judging by how quickly she left, she didn't want you to see her face. If you weren't here, she'd probably take off her mask and eat in a corner. Those two maids are just there to block others' view," Sylvia explained Jocelyn's intentions clearly.

"Alright then," Carley sighed bitterly at Sylvia's analysis. "We've known each other since we were kids and went to school together. I never thought we'd end up like this."

"That's how relationships are sometimes; maybe there's darkness in her heart that you never saw," Sylvia said as she dipped some tripe into the hotpot and ate it.

Carley thought for a moment before smiling wryly. "You're right. Let's eat; this hotpot is pretty good."

Seeing that Carley quickly adjusted her mood, Sylvia didn't say anything more.

Meanwhile, the Kaur family mother and daughter wandered around feeling resentful about the $40, 000 dress deal.
