The Lone Vampire

With one-on-one battles raging everywhere, hostile yet single-minded, Monster turned to the Kidnap Team, her group of four, and she said with conviction, “Come, we take the girl.” The five trotted down, oblivious to the ferocious battles raging around them, although to her left, in front of them, Monster saw one of theirs cut down one of hers, the enemy vampire thrusting a sword viciously into the fallen soldier’s neck. Monster had the important task, the most important task, a task that she would achieve, although avenging a fallen soldier on the way through could also be achieved. She lived for the thrill, for the kill, Take down and take out, kill, kill; kill for the pure primal thrill, kill for the bubbling carnal delight, and yeah fuckers, kill those who have killed yours. She looked at her group and twirled her left hand in a circular motion, and her team quickly, decisively, surrounded the lone vampire.

Monster could see it in the vampire’s eyes; the confusion, although the confusion soon blossomed into trembling fear. Surprisingly, the lone vampire didn’t try to flee, instead she braced herself, and with her sword flailing, she came at them. One of her men raised his sword defensively as the lone vampire swung at him, and the swords met, a mighty clang of steel ringing in the night, and another of Monster’s group reacted instantly, swinging hard while the lone vampire was unbalanced, and his fierce blow saw the sword flying out of her hand, the lone vampire now defenceless, and surrounded. Monster took a moment to enjoy the prospect of an easy kill, the waft of death in her senses, yet more surprises, for the lone vampire, she no attempt to flee in terror, she braced herself again, then unstrapped her armour and flung it away, then she ripped off her helmet and threw it away, and with a quick glance at all those who had surrounded her, the lone vampire snorted, then she produced the biggest surprise of all, for she leapt at a soldier and straddled him, then hissing, she dug her fangs into his neck. Monster’s team were instinctive, hostile creatures, and one of the team ripped her off, and as the lone vampire staggered backwards, another soldier swung his fist viciously, and the lone vampire spun in a dizzy semi-circle, then hit the ground face first. Mildly impressed by the feisty display, Monster picked up the vampire’s sword, and with both hands holding the sword high above her head, she grunted and then rammed the sword through her back. So powerful was the action, that the sword speared right through the vampire and imbedded itself in the ground.

Monster took a moment to observe, blood gushing immediately, and she knew that the lone vampire posed no further threat, because the heart that kept her alive had been popped like a bubble. Monster picked up her own sword and then said calmly, “Come, we take the girl.”

Ruby saw Scarlett in serious trouble, involved in a sword clanging exchange with a foe, while another foe charged in behind her. In the mixed confusion that heated battle can bring, Ruby was struck by conflicting emotions. Scarlett was one of theirs, and she needed help, although emotionally, Scarlett was Ruby’s greatest potential foe. Two thoughts zapped into Ruby’s mind, the first limply; We’re all going to die anyway, so who cares about her … although the second thought stung her into action; Hey, step up girl, you’re a Pistol …

Ruby leapt into his path and blocked the attackers vicious swing, and she shuddered under the impact, then she balanced, fell to one knee, and then with a grunt, she swung and cut his right leg off.

Scarlett’s original attacker seemed stunned, and Scarlett took advantage of his moment of vulnerability, and she swung fiercely into his neck, severing, although not completely removing his head, and the foe hit the ground with a dull thud. With her eyes blazing and her chest heaving, Scarlett glanced at Ruby, gave her a single nod, then she scampered away in search of her next battle.

Taylee did a scan, bodies at her feet, bodies all around her, and distressingly, she knew her brothers were amongst them. “Grieve when the battle is over.” she whispered, then she turned to her next target, her main target.

Cordeir understood the carnage, too many of his falling, so he jumped off the car and scampered up the driveway, fleeing, and Taylee dropped her sword and took off after him.

Scarlett tensed when she realised that she’d found her next battle. A raging Troggo was heading straight for Piper who was involved in her own heated battle, and the maniac would kill her, simple as that, because he was a fighting machine, powerful and fearless. Troggo was also mentally unstable, and he loved to hurt and maim, and that made him even more intimidating. Scarlett had hoped and prayed that she’d never see him again, because Troggo didn’t only make her skin crawl, he scared the shit out of her. As a vampire, Scarlett had become almost fearless, although the almost was him. Troggo was her nightmare, he was responsible for her sleepless days and sweaty brows, and now him, her nightmare, had presented himself for the final chapter of her life. Troggo was a powerfully built, broad-shouldered muscle-bound monster with an appetite for destruction, and Scarlett knew that she couldn’t beat him, although she gritted her teeth, hissed, then steeled herself. Depressingly, she thought, Okay, you’re going to die on this battle-field tonight … but yeah, toughen up, face your nightmare, go at him, never stand down, never back away; tonight, become who you’ve always wanted to be … Scarlett ran quickly, running at right angles to him, running east while he ran south, and drawing in a breath, she leapt twenty yards in front of him and then raised her sword defensively.

Troggo was initially stunned, although as he looked at her, he smiled wickedly. Things weren’t going to plan, too many of theirs lost already, although he knew that one should always accept the gifts that were presented before him. A Blond Beauty gift, an easy kill, and even though this bitch would look good tied to a table as he played with her, or experimented on her, no, other playthings or toys would need to be found, because if he had his way, this one was on her way to Hell … in pieces. “Ohhh yeah,” he crooned, “Me get to slice up this piece of premium tits and ass.”

Scarlett chose not to respond, because she knew that if she spoke, he would recognize the fear in her voice, and he would know how scared she was, and that would further boost his sense of invulnerability. To her right, she sensed that Piper was still in trouble, swords clanging heatedly, and Scarlett would have liked to assist her, but she knew that the moment she was in offered her clan the greatest assistance she could ever give them. Taking out the greatest threat, or at the very least, occupying him until reinforcements came. Watching him intently, Scarlett gripped the sword tighter, knowing that her moments of living and breathing were coming to an end, although this was it, this was her biggest moment, facing her nightmare, staring down the jaws of death, sacrificing herself for the clan that meant so much to her.

“Hey, Blond Bitch,” Troggo sneered, “Drop the sword and I won’t kill you.”

Scarlett remained motionless.

“Bitch, drop the sword, and I won’t give you maximum-grade-hurty-hurty, I’ll just mess you up a little bit, cause I wanta tie you down on my table.”

Scarlett never moved.

Troggo cocked his head and said menacingly, “Drop the sword, or else you are gunna get the maximum-grade-hurty-hurty.”

Scarlett gripped the sword tighter, then she ground her heels into the dirt, balancing herself, bracing herself.

“Fuck you bitch,” Troggo snorted, “When I’m finished with you, maybe I won’t tie you down on my table, cause there ain’t gunna be nothing left to tie down!” And then he went at her.

He swung, and Scarlett, balanced and braced, defended, and the first clash of swords produced an almighty clang which echoed for seconds, then he swung again, and Scarlett fended him off, her hands jarred by the ferocious swings. Troggo laughed mockingly, then he skipped at her and swung again, and she defended, recoiling with the force of the blow, and then repulsed by him, she thought, Fuck you! She swung viciously, Troggo swinging at the same time, and Scarlett let out a frightened gasp as both swords went flying through the air.

With fangs bared, Troggo sneered, “Death awaits you Bitch, because I AM DEATH!” and then he charged her and hit her front-on, slamming her into the ground.

Piper had killed her attacker, or at the very least immobilised him, although she no idea what had happened to her shield, had no idea how she lost her sword, but it mattered not, because actions were the only thing that mattered now. The crazy psycho was kneeling over Scarlett, poised to end Scarlett, so picking up speed, Piper leapt over fallen bodies and then flew at him.

Troggo was just about to sink his teeth into Scarlett, and Piper crashed into him hard, both bodies tumbling away in a confusion of limbs. Scarlett leapt to her feet and gathered her sword, then she raced over and placed the sword firmly on Troggo’s neck. Panting, Scarlett threatened, “Move, move a muscle and I’m driving this through!”

“I am Death, and I’m never gunna die!” Troggo yelled, then he grabbed the blade of the sword with both hands and tried to push it away from his neck. Piper couldn’t believe what she was seeing, because it seemed insane, both of his hands were slicing open and bleeding profusely as he gripped the sword tighter and tried to push it upwards, his blood streaming down the face of the sword and splashing onto his chin. Piper saw nylon rope protruding from one of the pockets of his leather jacket, and she yanked it out and twirled it around his hands, tied it securely, disabling him, then she pushed unsteadily to her feet. Snorting, Piper looked at them, the maniac still trying to push the sword away, while Scarlett seemed to be in some kind of seething trance. Piper assumed that if Scarlett pushed down with all her might, she would spear through his neck and kill him, although Scarlett, sneering, remained motionless. Staring at her in bewilderement, Piper yelled, “Do it, kill him!”

Scarlett dropped to her knees, and with a double-handed grip, she smashed the rounded hilt of her sword into Troggo’s face and knocked him out. Climbing off her knees, she composed herself then said, “Tie his ankles.”

Piper, still gripped in a frenzy of emotions blurted out, “He was just to about to kill you, so kill the crazy fucker!”

“Tie his ankles Piper,” Scarlett said as she sucked in huge breathes, then she said shakily, “Livinia will decide what happens to him.”

Jenna saw the sword being speared through the lone vampire, and she revved the bike, then sped towards them. Monster saw the bike coming, and she leapt out of the way, although she turned just in time to see the bike driven straight into two of her comrades, the screams of death ringing out as the saws cut them to pieces. Jenna braked, skidded to a halt, then she turned and lined up the next two. The men separated, running for their lives, and Jenna gave it full throttle as she drove aggressively at the biggest man.

Monster got up and picked up her sword, not pleased by how things were turning out, but a job to do; capture the Skank alive … maybe. Monster decided to see how it played out; if she was in a good mood, yeah, take her alive; if she wasn’t in a good mood, well … She began trotting towards the Skank, and she saw the new leader of the clan standing by her side, and she smirked, Take down and take out, kill, kill; kill for the pure primal thrill, kill for the bubbling carnal delight. Monster picked up speed, knowing that the Blond Skank wasn’t going to survive, and it wasn’t because Monster was in a bad mood, it was because she was really excited.

Apollonia saw Jenna screaming towards another target, then to her left, she saw the big one advancing; a fearsome, powerful looking woman heading straight for Livinia and Aleisha. Apollonia sucked in a breath, then she gripped the sword with both hands as she raced into her path then swung her sword into a defensive vertical position. Panting, she yelled at the advancing woman, “You ain’t going no further, Sucker!”

Monster knew who she was, the Queen of the Witches; and she smiled wryly as she skipped two steps towards her and then swung. The impact shook Apollonia, and before she had time to adjust, Monster swung again and knocked the sword out of her hands. Monster raced in, dropped her sword and then grabbed the witch by the neck, squeezing both hands around her throat. “Hey fucker,” Monster screamed into her face, “Try putting a spell on me now, huh?”

Livinia fretted, suddenly indecisive; Stay with the girl, or, or help the witch …

She scanned the immediate area, no help in sight, no-one available to stand with the girl, and she gripped her sword tightly. Apollonia was the same height as Monster, but it mattered not, for a witch was no match for the strength and speed of a vampire. Monster choked Apollonia into submission, then she yanked her head back, exposing Apollonia’s neck. In a better mood now, Monster opened her mouth and prepared to feast on her … or rip her to pieces. Livinia, a creature of instinct, tensed. She couldn’t swing at the big woman, because in the dipping, rocking struggle in front of her, she could swing and accidentally strike Apollonia, so she dropped her sword and flew at Monster, and in the crashing tackle, she brought both the vampire and the witch down. Apollonia’s hands flew straight to her neck as she gasped for breath, while Livinia landed heavily, then groggily, she pushed herself on to her knees.

Stunned by the frenzy of activity, incoherently dazed, Aleisha shuffled restlessly, torn by indecision. Battles raging everywhere, Isabelle in trouble on her left, Sophia in heated conflict on her right, and a witch riding a motorbike with buzzing electric saws sliced through someone, body parts flying into the air, and then, directly in front of her …

Monster hit the ground then rolled, and in a fluid motion, she swept up her sword and bounced to her feet. Livinia scrambled on her knees towards her sword, but Monster upright, quicker, leapt over and kicked the sword away.

With Livinia helplessly on her knees before her, Monster hissed as she twirled her sword around, then raising the sword above her head, she panted, “Ohhh yeah, the new Leader just about to go down!” Poised to strike, Monster snarled, “Gunna fuck you up, fuck you up-ehhh, ehhh …”

And then Monster coughed and buckled, initially in surprise, then in pain.

Panting from the exertion and the rush of emotions, Aleisha pulled the sword out, blood already dripping off the swords bottom edge, and more blood oozing out of the large woman’s wound. After the initial bolt of excruciating pain, the pain subsided quickly, and Monster knew that wasn’t a good sign, because you feel pain when your body rallies and fights, although her body seemed to be shutting down in grudging acceptance. She coughed, then gargled, and in a convulsing movement, she cocked her head to look at the skank. Her target, her prey, six inches from her face, her eyes blazing, her hot breathes spitting into her face, and Monster tried to raise her right arm, although the severe wound in her side meant that the arm was now merely a liability. Monster shuddered through a convulsion, and she knew what this was; her target, her prey, the hunted, had become the hunter. Aleisha grabbed a fistful of Monster’s hair and yanked her head back, then she snarled into her ear, “You wanta know something …” And she drove the sword through Monser’s side again as she said grittily, “I’m gunna fuck you up!”

Piper ran to help Isabelle, Vicky ran to Sophia’s aid, and Ruby, pumped and hostile, swung her head left and right, looking for her next engagement, searching for the enemy, searching, looking, then in a blistering moment, shaking her head in confusion.

Jenna, splattered with blood, and also wearing the harvest of flesh and entrails that the saws had produced, whirred the bike to a halt, and then with her breathing harsh and rapid, she gazed around.

Shell-shocked, and stunned, Vicky looked around, trying to slow her racing mind, trying to understand the scenes around her. Shell-shocked and stunned she was, although this time not because of the ferocious battle, she was shell-shocked and stunned because the battle was no more.

Panting, with eyes blazing, Livinia scoured the grounds, figures standing, the figures looking, staring, assessing. Still alert and ready to engage, Livinia sucked in deep breathes as she looked around again, taking greater notice this time, some of the figures in motion now; a warrior to her left, peeling her helmet off … Piper. To her right, two figures hugged, one of the figures blubbering, “Fuck, fucking shit-fuck.” … Isabelle, and quite possibly Sophia. Another helmet came off in front of her, and blond hair spilled free … Vicky. To her immediate left, a figure squatted on her haunches and blew out, “Thank-you God, thank-you Dear Lord, thank-thank-you Saint Perpetua.” … Elizabeth. Another helmet came off, more blond hair spilling, and the blond hugged a helmeted figure and said, “Baby, Ruby, you saved my life.” … Scarlett and Ruby. In a moment of panic, Livinia swung her head left, then right, looking for the girl, that girl; nowhere to be seen, not in front of her, not at either side. Behind her, Apollonia embraced a helmeted one, and anxious, Livinia skipped over. Apollonia removed the helmet then kissed the girl as she whispered, “You okay Baby?”

Livinia sighed with relief, as Aleisha, with tears streaming down her cheeks, nodded, then mumbled, “Y-yes, what about you?”

“Hey, feeling good,” Apollonia rasped out, “Because I’m alive, you’re alive, fuck man … we’re both alive.”

Aleisha blubbered, then limply fell back into the embrace.

Emotionally razed, Livinia looked around, prostrate bodies everywhere, but all her young charges accounted for, although she knew that they had lost a few. Livinia saw Taylee embrace Vicky, and she walked towards them. Her first action was instinctive, and she joined the embrace, wrapping her arms around the two women, and their arms wrapped around her; the embrace of victory, the embrace of survival. Taylee never cried, and she shed no tears, while Vicky wept because she was so overwhelmed, and Livinia wept simply because she was able to.

Drawing in a breath, Livinia asked Taylee quietly, “Have you done a sweep?”

Taylee nodded and replied solemnly, “We lost Sebastian and Seamus, and Thelma’s badly hurt.”

Livinia looked to Taylee’s right, a body thrashing around on the ground; Cordeir bound and gagged. Taylee saw Livinia glance at him, and she said quietly, “I wasn’t going to kill him … yet. Thought you might want to have a quite word to him.”

Scarlett dragged another wriggling, thrashing body up to the group, and after letting go of his ankles, she asked, “Everybody okay, you guys okay?”

“A few have fallen.” Livinia replied quietly.

Scarlett hugged them all, hissed at Troggo, then she wandered off.
