The sun began to set behind the line of buildings, the rays casting a purple glow about the sky, a rare beauty for a world so lost. Deimos couldn't help but admire the view as the gears turning in his head and a plan formed. Taking a deep breath, he marveled at the cool air filling his lungs and the warmth of the sun at the same time. For millennia, he had been trapped in an abyss, filled with nothing. Finally, he was free and in possession of his old body, but it came with his old feelings as well. Her smile haunted him every time he closed his eyes and her— "Mister, what is your name?" a soft voice asked, interrupting his train of thought.

Turning to the intruder, Deimos prepared to smite them but faltered as he met the eyes of a young girl. With a smile, he replied, "Deimos. And what is yours?"

The girl took his question as an invite, pulling herself onto the bench he was sitting on. "My name is Angelique.” The girl smiled, revealing a few missing teeth. "That is a strange name."

Deimos chuckled, "It sure is."

"Why are you alone?” Her interrogation continues.

Looking back out over the small lake, he thought about it for a second. "I am just thinking about my life."

"Sounds boring," Angelique pointed out.

"Not if it was an exciting one." Deimos defended himself.

"Then tell me a story." Angelique opted. “Please.”

"Fine, but just know it does not have a happy ending."

The girl nodded, "I don't care."

With a glance, Deimos caught her eager expression, and since he had time to kill, why not entertain this mere mortal with his existence.

"If you say so. A very long time ago, there was a God..."
