She thought she didn’t love Bernard that much, but now she knew that she couldn’t live without him, nor could she lose him. If her remaining life was without Bernard, then her life would lose its purpose and beauty. She was willing to die with him, but before that, she wanted to go back and see him one last time, even if it was just his body.
