“John seems nice,” Claire said, taking the soup but examining Camila instead. “Honey, tell mom honestly, do you already have someone you like?” 

Camila was taken aback, not expecting her mother to ask that. She quickly denied, “No, mom, what made you think that?” 

“Don’t hide it from me. I can tell when you’re troubled.” 

There’s really no one,” Camila insisted. 

Then why are you reluctant to meet someone I introduce?” Claire pressed. 

“I’m focusing on my career right now. I’m not thinking about that yet,” Camila replied. 

“Alright, I won’t push you for now,” Claire sighed. “I just worry about our family. I fear the day I’m gone, you’ll be alone.” 

Camila frowned, “Mom, you’re healthy, and I promise, when the right one comes, I’ll get married.” 

Claire nodded and tasted the soup, “Seems a bit bland,” she added a pinch of salt.
