Chapter 96 

Annabelle felt humiliated. She would not return to the Pearl Group for at least a month, especially in this office. 

Annabelle pretended to be dead until they all went out and withdrew from Lucas Walker’s arms, looking at him with a sad face. 

Lucas was already blooming with joy inwardly. However, he still maintained a righteous expression for fear that someone would fly into an upset out of humiliation. 

“What’s wrong?” Lucas finally could not stand her gaze. He raised his head and looked at her innocently as if he did not understand what had happened. 

Annabelle was still staring at him with her big round eyes. Was he still pretending? He was clearly doing it on purpose! 

“Why didn’t you tell me when so many people came in?” Annabelle felt that it was a big deal. Her beautiful image had been ruined. She was quite sure that the group was definitely discussing her and him fervently. 

As a matter of fact, she was right. Fortunately, it did not circulate to the large group for the time being. It was only a small discussion in the management group and the secretary group. 

“I did pat your shoulder to remind you!” Lucas said earnestly. “But you didn’t take it seriously. I thought you were sleepy, so I couldn’t bear to disturb you!” 

Annabelle was speechless.

Annabelle tried hard to think about it. It seemed that Lucas did pat her once. However, he had also done that to her before, which was a common way for him to appease her, so she did not take it seriously!

“Don’t be upset. It’s not a big deal!” Lucas had to comfort her when he saw her depressed expression. “You are pregnant. What’s wrong with you sitting on my lap for a while?” 

Hearing his words, Annabelle was not comforted by him at all. It was not like she was at home or in another private territory. She was in his office. It was okay if there were no outsiders, but so many people were watching her. It wouldn’t definitely be good! 

But what was done was done. There was no point in saying anything more. Annabelle waved him back to continue his work. After he was done, she’d have dinner with him and then go home. 

As for the impact of the matter, she could only leave it to time to eliminate it. 

Lucas spent another ten minutes wrapping up the business matters on his hands before leading Annabelle out. 

Annabelle did not dare to go out with such fanfare. She asked Lucas to find her a pair of sunglasses, so no one would be able to realize her when she wrapped her scarf and put on her hat. 

What else could Lucas do about her self–deceiving behavior but cooperate with her? 

Hence, the employees of the Pearl Group saw Lucas and the tightly wrapped Annabelle leave the Pearl Building together. 

The others did not understand. If not for her obvious pregnancy, they would have thought that Lucas had done something 10 let Annabelle down. 

Some people, especially those who had been to Lucas’s office, had already been popularized in the group. At this moment, when they saw Annabelle dressed like that, they almost went crazy with laughter. 

Wasn’t Annabelle too cute? Did she think no one would recognize her just because she wrapped herself up like this? Hahaha… 

From Lucas’s office to Pearl Building’s lobby on the first floor, Annabelle felt uneasy all the way until they were out of the Pearl Building, she finally heaved a long sigh of relief. 

Lucas looked at her and could not help but smile silently. With such a clown by his side, his original rigid life became more interesting. 

“Go, quickly. Someone is coming out!” Annabelle saw many people coming downstairs as soon as she had her sunglasses off. Annabelle hurriedly put her sunglasses back and dragged Lucas away. 

Lucas let her drag him to a restaurant not far away. After lunch, Annabelle was unwilling to continue staying in the company, no matter how Lucas wanted to keep her. So he had no choice but to ask the driver to send her home. 

Sitting in the car, Annabelle thought of the flower shop and asked the driver to take a detour to their flower shop for her to look at it. She did not make things difficult for the driver and just watched it from the car. Annabelle was quite happy when she saw the renovation worker squatting at the door for lunch.

“No, it’s just a guess!” Elizabeth said. “Maybe it’s just a coincidence!” 

Annabelle shook her head. She felt there was no such coincidence. But… who would deliberately open a flower shop to go against them? 

Annabelle immediately thought of Ashley. Although not many people liked her, Ashley seemed to be the only person who hated her that much. 

However, it didn’t seem right when she thought about it. Ashley didn’t know she had partnered with Elizabeth and Hazel to open a flower shop. Of course, Ashley would never intentionally open a flower shop next to them. 

“It must be that old demon!” Elizabeth thought for a moment and suddenly said through her gritted teeth. If someone really did it on purpose, then there’s only one person, who had every intention of doing it on purpose to annoy them.
