Chapter 19 

Lucas turned around casually and saw Annabelle, who had tears in her eyes. He frowned and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?* 

Annabelle glanced at him and saw the genuine concern on his face. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes internally. “The wind is too strong. It makes my eyes sting. Let’s go back home!” 

Lucas was speechless. He did not expect that his wife would be so sensitive. When she came out, she wrapped herself in clothes, and only her eyes could be seen. Yet, she still felt that it was cold? 

However, when he remembered that she was pregnant with two children, he realized that it was normal to be sensitive. He had to say that she was not the sensitive one. Rather, it was the children in her womb that were sensitive. 

“Then, let’s go home!” Lucas declared. After thinking for a moment, he took off his outer jacket and wrapped it around Annabelle. 

The doctor had said that Annabelle could not get sick during her pregnancy, as consuming too much medicine would affect the fetus‘ growth. 

Annabelle was shocked by his actions and hurriedly wanted to return his jacket back to him. 

“Keep it on!” 

Those simple words caused Annabelle to obediently shut her mouth. Lucas‘ current behavior made her recall that morning. He was elegant and reserved, cold and distant, and exuded a fatal attraction. Yet his demeanor deterred others from daring to get close to him. 

Annabelle could not help but sigh. Thereafter, she could not control her urge to laugh. “He’s such a popular person, yet no one could have him. In the end, I was the one who got lucky!” she thought. 

Lucas, who was walking in front of her, did not completely ignore the person who was walking behind him. Occasionally, he would walk to the side and sweep a cursory glance over her. When he noticed that she was all right, he would be at ease and continue walking forward. 

As he turned around, he saw that her eyes were narrowed happily. She appeared to be in good spirits. 

“Women are really weird! A moment ago, she was crying so bitterly. Yet, at the next moment, she smiles so happily,” he thought incredulously. 

The two people finally returned home. When they opened the door, warmth assaulted their senses. The same thought flashed across their minds. “As expected, it’s the warmest in our house.” 

Lucas took off his shoes and did not leave. Rather, he stayed and helped to drape Annabelle’s coat on the rack before getting a pair of slippers for her. 

Annabelle’s heart palpitated wildly. She mused, “The reputable Walker family’s second son is delivering me a pair of slippers. If others were to hear about this, they would be shocked.” 

“I… I can do it myself!” Annabelle said in a trembling voice. She could not stand it. 

Lucas‘ gaze traveled towards her, and Annabelle immediately conceded defeat. She obediently wore the pair of slippers. Even if she could not stand it, she had to grit her teeth and bear with it. 

The two people walked into the house. Mary was watching television with Susan in the living room. On the other hand, Donald and Timothy had returned to their respective rooms. 

Lucas greeted them and led Annabelle upstairs. 

Annabelle caught sight of the shopping bags on the coffee table once she entered the bedroom. Her eyes lit up subconsciously. Her earlier trepidation about the sleeping arrangements that night flew away. She abandoned Lucas and went to unpack her shopping bags. 

Lucas felt that she looked like an industrious little bee. She brought toothpaste and toothbrush into the bathroom, then brought her undergarments into the closet before hugging a big bottle of shampoo and walking to the bathroom. 

Lucas was speechless. “Can’t she first sort them out into categories before carrying them into their respective corners?” he wondered. 

However, he noticed that she was more than willing to do such work. She had a happy smile on her face. Thus, Lucas let her do what she wanted. 

He went to the bathroom to take a shower. 

Therefore, when Annabelle brought a big bottle of shampoo into the bathroom, she saw his naked body under the running shower. She froze in shock. 

“What scent is that?” Lucas did not seem to care. When he saw her standing there dazedly with a bottle of shampoo, he took the initiative to walk over.

“What scent is that? Can I use it?” He took the shampoo from her arms and did not wait for her reply as he looked at the shampoo bottle. 

The sound of the water running and the hot and steamy room caused Annabelle’s mind to go blank. When she came back to her senses, she subconsciously lowered her head. She saw the pair of feet standing in front of her. Her gaze traveled up and saw his muscular legs and also something else. Her body stiffened, and her beautiful face instantly flushed red. 

“You’re shameless!” Annabelle blurted out as she turned around. 

Her face heated up, 

and it felt like her cheeks were on fire. 

“Why doesn’t he lock the door when he bathes? Didn’t he notice that I was arranging the things? Why would he take a shower at this time?” A barrage of thoughts ran through her mind. 

When Lucas heard her words, he could not help but chuckle. He stopped looking at the description on the shampoo bottle and walked to the woman with her back facing him. He bent his body slightly and leaned toward her reddened face. In a low voice, he asked, “Why am I shameless?” 

Warm air was exhaled into Annabelle’s ear, and she could not control her shiver.. 

Her brain had turned into mush. She did not hear Lucas‘ question clearly, much less have the capacity to answer him. 

Lucas looked on as a blush slowly dyed her fair and pretty earlobe red. He intentionally moved closer. Without warning, he bit her ear. 

Annabelle was caught off guard and swiftly turned around. She instantly saw Lucas‘ mischievous smirk. Her eyebrows furrowed faintly. After that, she touched his wet and bare chest as if she was exacting revenge. When he froze in shock, she ran away quickly. 

Lucas let out a soft chuckle as he stared at the closed door. “I’m really… not on the losing end,” he mused inwardly. 

Soon after, his mind wandered to that night. He recalled the way she looked under him and her shy but straightforward fervor. He was rather satisfied with it. 

Lucas lowered his head and glanced down. “Aren’t I satisfied?” he thought. 

He was excited just thinking about it. 

As he thought about the fact that the satisfactory woman was bearing his children, he had a greater reaction. He could not do anything to her and could only return to the shower. The bath he took was unusually long. 

Annabelle, who had walked out of the bathroom, slapped her cheeks to let the heat dissipate. After that, she realized that she did not wash her hands after grabbing Lucas‘ chest. 

The heat that had just disappeared slowly burned again. 

“It’s okay! It’s okay! He’s my husband who has no intention of divorcing me! Even if he bit my ear and I touched his chest, it’s legal! There’s nothing worth getting agitated over!” she consoled herself silently. 

After doing a round of mental preparation, her mind was still a mess. She then went to unpack her luggage. As she had expected, her restless heart gradually calmed down when she busied herself. 

Lucas wore a bathrobe and stepped out of the bathroom. He did not see Annabelle. “That’s weird. Has she gone into hiding?” he thought. 

Suddenly, he heard some sounds traveling from the closet and decided to head over. 

When Annabelle heard the sound of footsteps, she raised her head subconsciously. As the man had his back to the light, she could see that he had broad shoulders, a slender waist, and a pair of long legs. His face was extremely handsome too. Annabelle had never thought that she would marry such a person. 

Annabelle stared at him dazedly. His soft laughter brought her back to her senses. Before she had time to blush, her attention was diverted to the man’s hair, which was still dripping wet. 

“Why have you come out without blow–drying your hair?”
