Thespian sat in a corner of the Transformation Lab and looked forlorn.

Kendall took him by the hand and seated him in a comfortable chair behind the glass holographic table.

“This room is special, Thespian. You can use your frequency in here quite freely. We’ve developed several games over the years and they all require only one person to control it. Do you want to play?”

He nodded shyly.

“Good.”

“What do you mean this room is special?” He asked.

“It’s complicated. Let me try to explain. Your brain is capable of emitting low frequency sounds. Low frequency sounds have a lot of energy so in order to block that sound we must absorb that energy.

“This lab is built to separate sound frequency of over 100dB -@40Hz. It’s a concrete room resting on big springs, so the entire structure won’t vibrate to your frequency.

“We block the path the sound is taking to the listener, in this instance the listener can be human or a material object like a building or a tree. The walls in this lab are made of masonry that reduces the vibration. The floor is built from gypsum boards and the windows are double plated.

“The equipment you see in front of you is all designed to redirect, absorb, isolate and cancel the signal.

“Of course we need a machine that reads the sound and analyzes the wave form then changes the wave form to the exact opposite of what you are emitting. This laboratory is a complete vacuum.

“Low frequency sounds have long wavelengths and are often higher in mechanical energy so we need to cancel it mechanically, there is no other way. The goal is to block the path of a particular sound or dampen the sound. That way, no one gets hurt. Do you understand everything now?”

“Yes. In other words, the frequency my brain emits cannot be transferred outside of this room.”

“Exactly. You’re a clever boy, Thespian. Shall we play?”

Thespian nodded, he looked excited now.

“When I turn on the holograph, all you need to do is use your mind to emit a sound aimed at a specific thing. Ready?”

“What do I get if I win?”

“The only prize you’ll get is the knowledge that you can use your mind for greater, better things, rather than destructive things.”

“I need more than just that.”

“Okay, we’ll devise a points system. Identify the building or thing, destroy it, and rebuild it elsewhere. That will get you 50 points. If you can’t destroy it, you’ll lose points, how does that sound.”

“Better, but not good enough.”

“What else would you like?”

“Ice-cream.”
